Angela Lansbury Wins First Olivier Award At Age 89

Dame Angela Lansbury's work in the revival of Blithe Spirit, marking her return to the London stage for the first time in 40 years - has earned her the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Her performance in the same role on Broadway won her a Tony Award in the same category.

How very encouraged she must feel :)

  1. Awesome! Well deserved! We drove to Los Angeles last January to see her wonderful performance in 'Blithe Spirit' at the Ahmanson. Such a thrill to see her on stage once again. I saw her previously in 'Sweeney Todd' and the revival of 'Mame'. She's truly amazing to still be thrilling us on stage at age 89. Love the Ruth Gordon reference you use at the end, Randy. Loved that speech. :)

  2. It is hard to believe that it has been approximately 38 years ago, when I saw her in a touring company when I saw her in a touring production of "Mame"...Amazing then and amazing now!
